IIM Calcutta MBAEx Eligibility 2027–28
Applicants need a full-time bachelor’s degree with at least 15 years of formal education, equivalent to 10+2+3 or 10+2+4.
The academic requirements are:
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent in Class 10
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent in Class 12
- Minimum 60% marks or equivalent in graduation
- For candidates with higher degrees, the relevant graduation/post-graduation qualification is considered
- Candidates with CA, ICWA, CS or FIAI qualifications can qualify with at least 50%
- Minimum five years of full-time professional experience after graduation as of March 31, 2027
- A valid GMAT score is required
The GMAT score must be from an exam taken within the prescribed validity period. The minimum qualifying benchmark is the 50th percentile. For reference, the July 2025 GMAT concordance table placed this at 600 for GMAT Classic and 565 for GMAT Focus. The average GMAT score of the previous batch was above the 85th percentile.
Online or take-home GMAT scores are not accepted for MBAEx admission; the accepted score must come from a test-centre GMAT.
Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee admission. Final selection is based on the composite score and the performance across the different selection parameters.

Therefore, candidates should not look at 60% as the only academic benchmark. Higher academic performance directly contributes to the selection score.
Work Experience and Its Importance
Work experience carries 15% of the final composite score.
Interestingly, the scoring system does not simply reward the candidate with the highest number of years of experience. The maximum points are awarded to candidates with 85–108 months of experience, equivalent to approximately 7 years 1 month to 9 years of experience.

Only full-time professional experience after completing at least a bachelor’s degree is considered. Internships, apprenticeships, training, curricular projects and unpaid work are excluded.

Diversity contributes 5% to the final composite score.
